When Shaw Cassidy discovers that someone is secretly logging into her multinational corporation’s sealed files and information across the company intranet, she tries to find out who did it; and her investigation winds up with her being shot by one of the men involved. Although the wound isn't life threatening, the trauma of recognizing the man brings on amnesia … he is supposed to be dead!

Chief Inspector Dawson tells her that he believe her shooting has been a random act of violence, that they will investigate further only if she gives them some proof that there is something more afoot. As all this is going on, the U.S. Attorney’s Office with both bureau agents and Justice Department officers are building a case against Cassidy Global, her corporation.

Someone was trafficking in Cassidy Global’s DOD intelligence secrets, selling them to unfriendly governments, mostly in the Middle East. Too many people believed that someone was Shaw Cassidy.
Just as in her nightmares, she knows that the threat is real.

It was as if she could sense an elusive piece of her mind’s puzzle just beyond her grasp, so close it nearly maddened her. Each time she failed to capture it, she fought off a fresh wave of helplessness.
With no family to be with Shaw as she tries to recover her memories and fights off an assassin messing with her mind, she is wondering if she going crazy until Cole comes to rescue her again, as he did in her youth.

Cole Marinos does everything he can to insert himself into the investigation against Shaw and her corporation – he doesn't believe she is guilty and tries to find proof of her innocence.  He has been called to keep an eye on Shaw, to be sure she wouldn’t associate with anyone the Feds can't vet.

Becauae of their intense past together, Shaw starts to pick up the pieces of her memory once she meets Cole again. They had been inseparable years past until the night, fifteen years ago, when her brother died in a fire and she hadn't been strong enough to stand by Cole. Once Cole realizes that there is an assassin loose, determined to make her suffer, he has to fight for both their lives. He is not going to let Shaw die.

I loved the story. Although suspense is not my favorite genre, I have to say the story captivated me. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Lovely characters, interesting story, wonderful suspense; the story was brilliantly created. The only thing I found as a turn off was that I knew who the villain was before I got to halfway through the story. 4.5 stars.
