A Bid for Love by KT Grant

Summary:
Anthony Conlin is a forty-one year old workaholic in love with his twenty-nine year old neighbor, Reece Whitmore, who looks like he belongs on the cover of GQ magazine. Anthony longs for Reece to the point of obsession, but doesn’t think he stands a chance because of their difference in age, his graying hair and a less than rock hard physique.

When Anthony’s friend, Jagger Castillo urges Anthony to try the matching services of 1Night Stand, Anthony still refuses because of his crush on Reece. But Jagger, along with the help of Madame Evangeline, the owner of the 1NS has something up their sleeves to make certain Anthony and Reece finally get together.

A charity auction sets the stage and rolls into motion a night Anthony and Reece will never forget.

Reviewer: PurpleRose
Anthony and Reece have been neighbors for years and both have been secretly lusting after the other from almost the moment they met. Anthony is 41, shy and has a little extra weight so he thinks that Reece who is 12 years younger would never go for him. Reece has been trying to turn his and Anthony's short and often awkward conversations into something more but Anthony always makes up a reason why he has to run off. Reece finally no longer able to take his and Anthony's relationship not developing the way he hopes contacts Madame Eve of 1 Night Stand and soon has a plan developed with the help of a couple friends.

I've read a lot of the books in the 1 Night Stand Series and most although short are rather enjoyable. This one stands out a little more than many due to the fact that it's a friends to lovers theme which I happen to enjoy and the fact that it's not an insta love. It was a developing relationship over years of lusting for each other. I also liked that Anthony wasn't the perfect person (having a few extra pounds around his middle) like is often the case in many romance stories. Whether it's m/m or m/f the male lead is often described as being perfect and I like reading stories with characters that have flaws. I'm giving this story 4.5 stars.
