A Taste of Seduction by Mary Campisi

Summary:
A young woman of noble blood, raised as a peasant girl...

An orphaned stable boy, now grown and the surrogate son of a powerful earl – the same earl who just so happens to be the young woman’s father...

Meriel and Anthony have nothing in common--she runs barefoot and talks to animals, he won’t loosen his cravat unless the bedroom door is firmly closed. Meriel believes in love, hope, and happily ever after. Anthony believes in keeping a safe distance from anything resembling an emotion. They have nothing in common but an undeniable, burning desire for one another they can’t ignore or understand, and an ailing "father" who will do anything to see them together. Unfortunately, there are others, cunning and manipulative, working behind the scenes. Others who will stop at nothing, willing even to kill, to keep them apart.

Just like with The Seduction of Sophie Seacrest, Mari Campisi does it again with A Taste of Seduction. She delivers an exciting book full of passion, secrets, deceptions, lies, and detestable villains for our pleasure!

The heroine is a free spirit and a sweet girl, the hero is the brooding type. The chemistry between them seems so real that it is somehow palpable. You can't help but be drawn to them both.

Meriel had had a very simple but a very happy life. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, two very loving people. But this carefree life is suddenly turned upside down because of a malicious rake and an old secret.

Lord Jared Crayton is the second son of a Duke and from the first moment he set eyes on her, he knows he has to have her. He is an expert at ruining young girls and he won't rest until he has Meriel. He will threaten her family if he has to!

A hidden secret about her birth is revealed to her by his uncle and aunt, because it is the only way to protect her against Lord Jared. Her father didn't die in a hunting accident, he is alive and he is an Earl.

Her mother had an affair with Lord Montrose while married to another, so Meriel is the illegitimate daughter of the Earl of Drakemoor but he doesn't know it.

Then enters our brooding hero, a very proper gentleman who is the Earl's adoptive son. Anthony until now had a perfectly normal life, well, until Meriel appears claiming to be the Earl's lost daughter!

But unfortunately for him things didn't go as planned. He fought it but to no avail, the more their mutual attraction grows, the more tension fills the air. It was such a joy to see them struggle with themselves and then at last succumb ...

This is only the beginning of a story rich in twists and turns, with yet another villain, related to Meriel, who will associate herself with the first one, the malicious rake, to conspire together against her. I can promise you won't be bored!

This is a very intricate book that is very cleverly built. I give this book 4 stars.
